A Day
At The Farm with Farmer Jason

On
A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason, Roots Rock pioneer Jason Ringenberg
combines all of his various roles - Alt.Country singer/songwriter, father
of three beautiful daughters and working farmer - into a musical project
that's part children's record and part simple Country romp. Musically,
he teams up with longtime cohorts George Bradfute and Fats Kaplin (among
others) to educate kids about some of the fun and work that accompanies
farm life. Each song begins with Ringenberg explaining some facet of a
farmer's experience, from shearing sheep in "Hey Little Lamb"
to the history of horse usage on "Whoa There Pony" to the reasons
and methods of planting on "Corny Corn." It's all done in the
simplest of terms for a very young audience, but Ringenberg's sincerity
and musical accomplishment sells A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason with
the same conviction as anything he's done with the Scorchers or on his
own. Grade: B
